A Scottish company is putting a new service to the test
In a bid to extend broadband services to more rural areas, Scottish Hydro-Electric has been looking into using electricity lines to supply broadband connections. The alternative method is set to be put to the test in a couple of towns with hopes the service could be available to the company's 3.5 million customers at some point.
Reports claim that initial trials have proved successful, being able to offer 2mb per second, that's twice as fast as most current UK broadband services. Although no pricing information has been released, the company hopes to be competitive.
