CDRW Help!!

ok, i'm getting just a little frustrated here.. heres the deal..

i jsut built a new system around a asus a7n266-vm mobo, and athlon xp1500 cpu...

the problem is, when i open up nero 5.5, even after a fresh install, the system locks up when Nero is doing it's SCSI/IDE Bus scan.. it locks up EVERY SINGLE TIME!

my question is... why?!?! i've replaced both the cd-rw and the mobo.. so thats not it... and i'm reinstalling Windows XP Pro as i type this... so if that doesnt fix the problem... then i'm gonna go nuts.....

can anyone help me??

Since you are saying that you can open Nero I am assuming that it is not locking during boot. If this is the case, then it sounds like you have a resource issue. Check your IRQ/DMA assignments. You may need to free some resources.

Other thing, what type of cd-roms do you have. Are they IDE or scsi? If scsi, what type of controller?

Check and make sure your drives are set correctly.

I would check to make sure you have the VIA drivers installed correctly for your motherbaord. Chances are the IDE drivers are the Windows XP drivers and not the ones on the motherboard CD-Rom. Update the drivers and tell us if it works.
