"All consumers will enjoy the i700's large color TFT screen to view high- resolution VGA-quality images taken with the device's built-in digital camera. The i700's impressive screen also is perfect for viewing photos and documents, browsing the Internet on Verizon Wireless' high-speed data network, checking email or playing video files with the Windows Media Player. Additionally, the i700 allows consumers to capture an image, attach voice memos or text messages, and send images via email or infrared capabilities.

"The i700 is a result of the combination of powerful and flexible Pocket PC software on sleek Samsung devices, making it a great device for work and play," said Juha Christensen, corporate vice president for the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "We look forward to the new features the i700 will offer Verizon Wireless' customers such as an integrated camera and multimedia messaging capabilities and are very excited about Samsung's innovative work that complements our very rich Pocket PC offering."

Hey what are the stats on that digital camera? The whole thing looks nice. Can I get some stats on it?

cant be very high. but you never know..

For refrence: NX70v camera is .3 MP, but the "NX85" is "supposed to have" a 1 MP camera. Doubtful that the Samsung camera will be higher than 1MP, hell, 5MP.

Arch: Your new toy has a better camera than this thing, but it is a PDA / Camera. Can it make calls? This thing is a Phone / PDA / Camera. Just like with multifunction printers the more capabilities that you engineer into a device the less functional it becomes in all of its abilities when compared to devices that specialize in one capability.

Anybody know if the i700 is designed to be used as a handset? (As opposed to just speakerphone or earbud like the Thera & 2032.)

I truthfuly dont want a PDA-phone. It doesnt look like it would be very safe to drop one in my pocket, and the thing is massive to begin with.

Small but useable is the trend for phones these days while PDA's are more functionaly orientated.

I am willing to bet you can use it as a handset. By looking at the picture you can see the mic and speaker are in the same locations a regular phone would have them.

It would just be hard to carry something bulky like this.
I never use my phone's web capabilities, cause I'm always smack dab in front of a computer anyways. I can see people that are on the go all the time finding these useful though.
