Nice forum. Lots of good info here.

Hey, is anyone with a 185 or 200 model notebook using an accessory specifically requiring a USB 2.0 connection? There is an individual on the Yahoo VPR-Matrix forum:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vpr-matrix/
who - when he plugs a USB 2.0 external drive into his computer - get an error message back from the computer that the port is configured as a USB 1.1 port and not as USB 2.0. He says he has all the latest drivers and the computer is otherwise working normally.

The reason I ask is that I have yet to try out either the USB 2.0 (or Firewire) ports on my 185, but I can tell you that those specific features weighed very, very heavilly in my decision to buy the VPR-Matrix notebook instead of a comparable Sony Vaio or similar mid-priced notebook.

I would be happy - and I'm sure the guy over at the Yahoo forum would be too - to hear from those of you who are successfully using the USB 2.0 ports on their VPR-Matrix notebook.

Many thanks!

I had a lot of problems with the Firewire. First, the controller was defective. So I got a replacement notebook and this one works with my Firewire hard drive, but didn't work with my audio interface. So I switched audio interfaces. The whole sordid tale is here:
