Hi, enjoyed the detailed explanation above on brazing. I have a question going in the reverse direction. How do you unsolder or unbraze a silver-soldered joint between stainless steel and brass without destroying optical components housed within?
1. what are you talking about?
2. How big is the item you are using?
3. if its SMALL, use a Wick and a clamp..the clamp works as a heat sink, pulling excess heat OFF the item before it can cause damage..A wick is TINNED mesh that pulls the solder away.. they also have a solder SUCKER..which takes abit of practice and is only a Suction device with a trigger to PULL the hot solder OUT..
4. in DESOLDERING its also best to have a IRON that is HOTTER then a standard iron..Makes it fast as well as not applying To much heat that could damage electronics.
