This is the 8th week and I still do not have my 200A5 laptop back from Best Buy....isn't this crazy?? I do not know what to do at this point. They have no idea when it will be finished...I have talked to several managers at the store as well without any luck.

That is absolutely inexecusable. If VPR-Best Buy want to have a chance of surviving in the computer business they are going to have to get their act together. I cannot believe that the Bestbuy product manager responsible for the success of this line will keep their job for long if this "blackhole" maintenance treatment is par for the course. I would escalate immediately to the corporate office and politely but firmly raise hell. No one should have to put up with that. People who use their computers for their livelihood would be out of business.

What can I do!? I called my Best Buy card (which I bought the laptop on) to cancel my payment because of this and they said this is not a good enough reason. I am PAYING for a laptop I have only had for 3 weeks!!

Tell me who to talk to, give me a name and number and I will do this!

Thanks for the help guys, this has been frustrating to say the least. :)

IOMan,

Can you post your case number? I'm interested in asking Best Buy myself what is going on with your situation.

My "dead laptop screen" case number is 93229. YEee!! Box coming in two days.
They also said they're going to fix my wireless switch.

You have been way more patient that I would have been. 8 frickin weeks? I would have found the address of their service center by now and driven down there to yank on someone's nads by now. I would also be all over my credit card company filing a claim with them. Most credit card companies have purchase protection built in that protects againt poor service, bad merchandise etc. They may be able to put some pressure on Best Buy to get your laptop back to you if they are being threatened to have the credit card payment challenged. Calls to the better business bureau in your state as well as in the states the Best Buy does business in as well as VPR would also be in order. I would definitely be seeking out someone at the corporate level to look into all of this. I had to finally do this with a Palm product after having to send 6 defective units back in as many months. I finally ended up with a personal phone number directly to someone at the corporate level who took care of everything. I would be harassing them daily!!!!

I bought it with my Best Buy card so I could get 12 months no interest. When I told them what is going on, they told me that was not a good enough reason to dispute the claim. I am going to call consumer affairs first thing tomorrow morning. I am SOOO mad.

Oof, how convenient of Best Buy credit folks. Man, this is why I was very hesitant to buy anything from BB. They're just so damn sketchy so often. I love my 200A5 but if I had to buy it again I would have to hire a body-double to handle everything relating to Best Buy because I just can't stand those poeple and their company attitude.

If nothing else you have learned that A) send your 200A5 through VPR directly and not through a store, B) don't buy anything big-ticket with a BB credit card (get an AmEx), and C) if you decide to make a frontal assault on BB headquarters you can probably expect plenty of help from all us and all those other scorned BB customers. Bwahahahaha!! Charge!!!

what was originally wrong with your laptop? mine's been in 2 weeks and I keep calling and they said maybe by this friday, but probably not. my front audio buttons don't work, the LED indicators by the audio buttons don't work, and the wireless doesn't work. they said it might be a faulty power module or something. i bought it on a friday, fired it up on saturday, and took it in the following monday. I've only played with mine for 2 days!!

IO's ethernet port was jacked up, i think while he was surfing the web for porn in his hotel room, he kinda lost track of time, while unzipping his pants and getting packed for the airport which he was already late for, he pulled out that CAT5 and f''ed up his e.port.. hehee.. anways, i think its pretty rediculous that BB is taking their sweet ass time just to get that repaired. they need to be more sensitive to our computing needs.

I got a call from Best Buy today. I should get it this Friday (tomorrow) or Monday. Caught me by surprised.

I am pretty mad about this, but I have 2 IBM compatible systems and a new 17" iMac, so I am covered for a while. Luckily I am not traveling anytime soon else I would die without my 200A5....

sounds like Ioman got on the bad end of something which should have been good.

See, Ioman, you obviously dont have the *****ing skillz which I have. For after two weeks, I would have drove down to Best But Corporate and demanded either A: a new laptop, or B: that they fix my damn laptop in front of me and then proceed to give it to me, AND pay for the gas which I used to get there.

... Im not joking either :D

we should start a company where wimps like IOMAN (J/K) can pay a small fee for someone like PANDA to raise hell at any specified retailer/agencies/blah blah for any kind of personal/business inconvenience.

whacha think? har har.

I think they call those....lawyers. Bwahahaha! I think the mob calls these "enforces". Ya know, the kind of guys that come and threaten you with sleepin' with the fishes or bustin' your kneecaps.

Thankfully though, I don't need any of these types of services when dealing with companies. I'm no push-over (I'm not saying Ioman is btw) but if all else fails and my very nasty attitude toward a company fails, I call in the big guns.... My cranky mom!! Yikes!! Parents, even at as an adult, are still useful from time to time.

I would have still contacted the maker of the laptop, and let them decide on the processs I would take.
