Right now, they have 6,100.

I ran across this interesting Seattle Post-Intelligencer story this morning, which is kind of scary if you like coffee from other coffee shops. Actually, a little personal anecdote: ZD's West Coast HQ used to be on Beale St. in San Francisco (in the Bechtel building, which is protest city right now) and there used to be three Starbucks within a two-block radius. There was one street with a Starbucks on each end of the block, at the same side of the street. Insane.

This might be a good time to start thinking about opening a store of your own. :D

i think it would be a bad time to open a starbucks store of your own..(buying into the franchise). means $$ will be hard to come buy if you have 3 other same store competitors in one block

hehe.. meant the band Tool. They had this crazy stop/motion video where it looks like a weird freaky lookin dude (not that you are weird or freakin lookin) is shaking really really fast.

You'd be so doped on caffiene you'll be shaking like that

Aren't Starbucks company owned? I don't think they are a franchise.
