For those out there who is having problems with the internal wireless card inside vprMatrix models, here's something you can try: First, you need to install the wireless utility program that comes with the driver. You may have to reinstall the drivers to get the utility. Then fire up the program. (The default directory is C:\Program files\Ambit\Wireless\Utility) There should be a blue icon on the system tray. Click once (don't double-click) and a window will pop out, showing the signal level. Note the signal level. Now open up your wireless router or access point setup program. Set the channel one by one, from 1 to 11. There may be more channels to choose depending on what kind of wireless you use. After you switch the channel, look on the signal level to see if there's any improvement. I tried this and the wireless card worked very well on channel 11. My signal level was a mere 10% on Channel 6 on 30 feet away, but it jumped to a whopping 50% max (usually 35-40%) after experimenting and finding the right channel. Experiment to find out what's the best channel to use for your laptop.
Hope that helps.

can someone verify his solution? given that this sounds like an access-point side fix, it's still worth a try!

Sorry to hear that it didn't work.
I called vpr about this, and they told me they would send a box to me to pack my notebook and send to them, so they could test it.
I know that someone said they're sending replacement wireless cards. It seems like they don't do it anymore.

Changing from channel 6 to channel 11 brought my weak-to-sometimes-medium signal up to a strong signal. It may be that the other devices in the area were affecting signal strength, and the channel adjustment avoided a conflict. At any rate, this solution did indeed work for me.
