You can either get the manual from VPR matrix's website:
http://www.vprmatrix.com/customer_notebooks_170B4_guide.asp
Or you can get the Samsung P10 manual (same laptop as the VPRs, but better manual) from here:
www.infoarena.com is geared more towards the older VPR models like yours, so you should be able to find additional drivers / support there as well.

What about the 185A? Does Samsung have an equivalent model that I could download the manual for???

Nope the 170B4, 175B4, and 180B5 are all based on the Samsung P10 / MicronPC T1000 laptops. The 185A5/200A5 are the newer models designed by FAPorsche so I think the only manuals you can get for them are off VPR's website.

I read on another forum that it was produced by an Asian firm called Quanta, but I can't find anything on search/website about it. Can anyone confirm/disprove this?
It just seems like the VPR manual is very limited. I'm looking for something more along the lines of a technicians manual.

I read at some reputable news source (something from ZD?) that Quanta indeed makes the widescreen VPRs. There was a press release or some such jazz to confirm this since apparently Quanta is now something like THE largest notebook 3rd party manufacturer for the big name companies.
From my personal experience, I can attest to seeing Quanta clearly listed on the underside of the keyboard when I last disassembled it. In fact I wrote the part number down in case it ever breaks again so that I can convince them to just send me a new one so I don't have to wait weeks for a simple repair I could do. But I digress.

I need vpr help...I just purchased the 185a and cannot connect to my wireless router either by the internal card or by a pcmci card that does work on another laptop. It shows as connected, enabled and strong signal but I only send packet and not receive. In pinging, I can ping all the addresses but not websites like yahoo.com or msn.com although when I enter their numeric addresses, its does return a ping.
I spoke with tech support and they can't provide any other help except to send out a usb wireless card.
I think there is some weird configuration problem because all the hardware checks out.
If anyone can help, I would be extremely greatful.
Thanks
