hey. got a 200a5 about a week ago. love this pc. hope i don't have some of the problems you guys are having, but i'm sorry you're having them.

since i got mine, i've been wondering what i could do with the neato button the right of the keyboard, because with the installer that vpr provides, all it can do is 1.) display the movie with really bad acting or 2.) go to www.vprmatrix.com.

the first obvious thing is to change the url to some other site, so it's more useful. better, but there are much better things to have such a cool looking button dedicated to.

so, after some searching and fiddling, i've come up with the following list of neat things to do with that button.

first, if you never installed it, install the "vpr matrix keyboard" drivers from the site, then crack open regedit and find

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Chicony\0133BestBuy\De fault\0

all of the numbers below are for the "function" dword value.

0 icons blink on desktop?
1 displays "hotkey not assigned!"
2 if is url, opens www, if executable, executes (explorer command?)
3 volume down
4 volume up
5 mute/unmute
6 windows "beep" ("you can't do that - right now")
7 windows "beep" ("you can't do that - right now")
8 icons blink on desktop?
9 icons blink on desktop?
10 eject cd
11 instant screen saver
12 suspend pc
13 close window with focus
14 www (homepage, regardless of linkto)
15 email program
16 search (doesn't work)
17 my documents (explorer)
18 opens a dos prompt
19 shutdown
20 opens ms word (?)
21 icons blink on desktop?
22 displays "hotkey not assigned!"
23 attempts to display a help file located at d:\product\chicony\9805\help\Hotkey.hlp
24 icons blink on desktop?
25 icons blink on desktop?
26 icons blink on desktop?

note: you have to kill the "mhotkey.exe" process and then restart it by running "mhotkey" every time you change the value for it to work.
also note: i would not suggest using suspend. on mine, it freezes. i think this might have been discussed on here, actually.

enjoy!
