Sony is developing a plasma screen television set that's intended to tune in streaming video from home networks and the Internet as easily as regular TV programs, according to sources familiar with the plans.

Odd but it seems that Sony is on the right path here with their integrated technology, but I wonder how long before we are spammed in the middle of watching Mayberry RFD? Not that I watch that show or anything. I don't have to action figures either. Really!

Dan and I saw these at CES, they are supposed to tie in with Sony's Cocoon system (http://news.designtechnica.com/featured_article2_page2.html) (fifth set of speakers down) which allows you to stream music and video from your home network. I tried posting this as news yesterday as I saw it on Cnet and some other sites, but Sony for some reason did not send me the press release :( like they usually do.
Personally I would prefer to make my own media box which is compatible with ALL brands of hardware. My understanding is that the Sony net enabled TV's and the Cocoon media box is ONLY compatible with other Sony products.
How many people only have one brand of audio/video products!? Probably not a whole lot eh?

I agree. I would like to create my own media box.
I was really impressed by the box someone posted on here last night.

I saw that too. Cloud posted that link and pics. That is actually a complete mini barebone system. Its about $749 US dollars. You would have to throw in a HDD, CPU, memory and possibly video card and you would be all set.
