OCAddiction, Envy News, and My hardware world.com all gave this drive an editors choice award. Our was the only award that matters so far....

So there Mr. negativity!

Very good work Ian. I guess our reviews aren't too short for Maxtor! :D

Im still kind of iffy. For instance, you review the drive with only 2 benchies, and even then, its only against a lower-tier Maxtor.

Reading another HDD review, they use Winbench like you, but also about 5 other benchies (in which the DM9 falled behind the WD2000JB, btw).

Speaking of which, how does it stack up against the WD Raptor, or the WD JB series? For all I know, the WD2000JB is still king of the crop, and the DM9 is just under it.

I personaly just dont think an award can be given without comparing it to all the products available... Thats like comparing a GeForceFX to a TNT.

Archon, tell that to Envy News: http://www.envynews.com/review.php?ID=402

And OCAddiction: http://www.ocaddiction.com/reviews/hd/maxtor_160gb_sata/

We reviewed it against their ATA100 160Gb drive of the same SIZE. As I said before its not about the speed, its about the size. Most consumers buy a hard drive to upgrade the size of it, not the speed and that is what we set out to do.

If you are not happy with our reviews, you do not have to come to this site.....
