Looking for a simple TV stand which will be able to hold my receiver, Gamecube, PS2.
I eventually want to get a plasma so this will host a regular TV for only a short while.
I was originally thinking about just putting a couple of shelves underneath the plasma... but I will need something for my TV in the mean time.

bdonn, take a look at what Circuit City has to offer (if they have them in Toronto...not sure). It's where I got mine (for a steal -- less than $200) and it's built like a brick-you -know -what. Sorry for the crappy picture:rolleyes: http://www.plasmaextreme.us/images/setup.jpg

I was using 32" LG plasma TV. but my seven years old son damage screen while playing pinyata at home. I am using TV Lift Cabinet (http://www.importadvantage.com) instead of TV Stand. It is a new concept. We can hide our TV as well as save TV screen from child while we are not watching it.
alen...
NOT A NEW IDEA...
AND, there is 1 problem.
you have a TOP, that many would like to put stuff on. you would need to clean to TOP before you could watch TV.
then comes PRICE..for PRESSBOARD..

I don't know if looks matter to you, being a student.
If it does, I'd consider some cabinet with a frosted glass front, then you can hide all your AV and game equipment out of sight (http://www.cleverandeasy.com/Home-Organizing/hide-your-hi-fi-installation-out-of-sight.html). Looks much cleaner.
AnneG..
Nice..
but I would think about another solution.
Consider the weight of the NEW TFT screens..
Why not a Lift UP/fold up that Lays on the ceiling..

Didn't know those lift cabinets. Looks very nice, but not cheap.
i WOULD HANG A BRACKET FROM THE CEILING,
and have a TV holder and shelf on the bottom..
Swing it up and out of the way..freat for over a bead..
