Anybody guess what is the origin of my signature? It does come from a literary work. Kudos to anyone who knows.

According to google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=%22Squirrels+Never+Built+Starships%22)... i'd have to guess... Designtechnica forums, the novel?

kind of cool that a google search brings up designtechnica forums as first. First clue, science fiction sort of novel.

My first try is from this web page (http://users.capu.net/~highway/TheStory/StarkTrek.shtml)
------------------------------------------------------------
"Open a channel, Mr. Worf," Picard said.
"Aye, sir."
The screen came on, showing a squirrel as the captain. "I am Captain Nutty McAlmond of the USS Nutterprise. My ship has been caught in an anomaly and we're trying to figure out where we are. This is odd, you appear to be humans, I never knew humans were intelligent enough to build starships."
"I was wondering the same thing," said Picard.
"I may have an explanation," said Data. "That ship comes from a parallel universe where squirrels are the dominant life-form."

Ian !!! Glad to see you back man! Long time no see, I missed ya!
I did a search on the net and a couple Star Trek threads came up. I didn't think they could be related so I didn't search there, but I bet you are right!
What do you say Flashfire?

sorry :( neither a star trek reference or a star wars reference. That would be too easy. this is a direct quote from a very popular science fiction book.

I DO remember it from somewhere, but I can't seem to get it right. My first knee jerk reaction is to agree with ECA and say the hitchhikers guide series.
My second gut feeling is it is from an A. Asimov novel.
Maybe Robot Dreams....

The quote is from Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. If any of you haven't read the book and you like Science Fiction, This book is a must read. It is one of the best modern science fiction books ever written.
How about:
HP lovecraft..
Shadow RUN
Grendel
Coachman RAT..

great list. If you're looking for some classic sci-fi try the Foundation Trilogy by Asimov or Martian Chronicles by Clarke
