If you are looking for a new cell phone, but want something with a little more features than most, you may want to consider the Neonode N1. The N1 reminds me of Danger's Hiptop phone, except the N1 has PDA functionality, GSM dual band cell phone support, MP3 player capabilities, a microphone, headphone plug and SD memory card expandibility. Whew that was a lot to say. To spice things up, let the device function as a fully programmable TV Remote control with a range up to 10m.

There doesn't appear to be any mention of price, but I am willing to bet that if this phone can be customized via your computer or with physical enhancements, this would take off unlike anything we have ever seen. All the ingredients are there, it is just up to price point, reliability and service provider at this point.

a e-mail from neonode to the thousand people who had pre-ordered the N1:
"The package includes the handset, 64MB SD-card, USB cable, Stereo headset, recovery software and a manual. To buy N1 you must have a PC with USB and Windows 95 or later. The software in N1 is still in an early version. Which means that you need to upgrade it and be patient with possible failures in the software." It goes on to say that the pre-ordered handset can be purchased at their new site that will launch May 15th. The price will be 520.00 Euros including taxes."

That thing is so small I would break it easily I think. I need something a little more durable.
