Checkout our latest review of the Sony VAIO PCG-Z1AP1 (http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review61.html)Sony attempts to mesh form, function and features into their new VAIO PCG-Z1AP1, a Centrino based laptop. What they have produced is a masterpiece.

On a more personal level, the new PCG-Z1AP1 is a killer system. You truly have to see one to appreciate it. When out in public with it, the PCG-Z1AP1 is a real head turner because of its good looks. I currently have a VPR Matrix 200A5 and I have to admit that I think I like the Sony more. I hope you enjoyed the review.

that thing just looks sexy, looks like an oversized NX PDA. Not sure how I feel about the graphics chip though (would prefer a 9600 mobility thingy)

Good review! The laptop looks okay to me, but that's because I'm more of a fan of the styling of the ThinkPad T2x/T3x laptops. For me, nothing beats the nice black and super sturdy case, very nice keyboard, and subtle yet very helpful features (integrated keyboard light has helped in darkened presentation rooms).

Speaking of which, how is the built quality of the laptop? Does it squeak when moving it, is it a bit "flexy", etc?

I did get to see this at the local Microcenter. It is REALLY beautiful. But, I think that slim sharp laptop takes away from of the flare, even though the specs aren't as nice....

The laptop is very sturdy and not flexible at all. The quality is outstanding.

Cool... I've worked with some Dell laptops and they are known to make a squeaking or creaking sound when just picking it up without supporting the other side

If I were to get another laptop right now (that is, if I had enough money to spend on another one), it would still be the ThinkPad T40 or the T40p. Fairly nice specs, about the same weight as the Sony... I just like the ThinkPads and silver has never really been a color that I've liked.
