I am looking for some help in solving an annoying problem that I am having with my stereo. I recently was given a Nakamichi PA5 amplifier and a Nakamichi CA5 control amplifier by a friend who had this equipment sitting around for several years and not being used. My old stereo setup was a NAD 7175PE receiver hooked up to a pair of Bose 901’s and I had the Bose 901 equalizer also attached. This setup sounded pretty good and I had no problems. Now I have my system setup with the Bose equalizer connected between the Nakamichi amp and Nakamichi control amp while still using the Bose 901’s. Here is where I have my problem, my new setup makes a humming sound from the speakers even if the volume is turned down all the way. I never had this problem with the old configuration and it is quite noticeable. My friend that gave it to me is not sure if he had problems or not because it has been so many years since he used it. Does this sound like hardware problems? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
