I appreciate all the info given on this forum. I read and read on this forum and other resources so I could make an informed decision on purchasing an hdtv monitor. I hit the stores to check out all the sets I've been reading about to decide what I would buy in the next few months. Instead of agonizing over which set should I get and did I really need to spend thousands of dollars on something I don't really need, I decided what the heck, life is short, why not treat myself. I went to Circuit City and bought the 51 in. Hitachi Ultravision set for $2184, which seems like a pretty good deal. They had an open box version for $1999 but I took the advice of posters and stayed away from that. I looked at the Mitsubishi Diamond series and the Pioneer Elite at Tweeter(Nice store, never even knew it existed since I rarely travel on the Northside of Chicago, until reading this forum) but decided it was too much money to spend on my first rptv. Decided to go with the Hitachi because of all the great things just about everyone had to say, the good price, the nice picture and all the features on the set. Since I didn't go overboard on the tv, I decided I'd spend some more money on the Zenith HD tuner with Direct tv so i can get some HD content as well as a very inexpensive($99!!) panasonic progressive scan dvd player. With all the cables and protection plans as well as a new equipment rack which matches the new set, the damage was a little over $4100. It should make for a pretty decent home theater and I shouldn't have to cancel plans for my 2 year old to attend college. I won't have the tv until Thursday and I should have the sattelite hooked up a day or two after that. I'll let everyone know how things look. Thanks again everyone.

Get your kid involved in a sport...early. That way he/she can get a scholarship and you won't feel guilty;)
