What I've got is a remodeled 65 year old cabin. I'm very limited in room (small house, great location) and the den is only 12'x12' with 9' ceilings. Hardwood floors, solid wood walls on 3 sides and I was able to build in a small entertainment center (drywall) on the fourth. I'll be using the Paradigm Cinema 90 series setup with my old Yamaha 5280 receiver. Planning on the Toshia 4800 DVD player.

After becoming a stalker at the local Best Buy and spending way too much time on the internet researching various units I'm wondering if it's really worth spending so much more to have a HDTV in such a small room. Because of wall limitations I could only leave enough room for a 32-34" tube tv unit. The couch is ~10' from the TV wall.

Hey There,

The size of the room has NOTHING to do with the idea of HDTV. My "family room" is 12 x 13. I'm getting the Sony 40XBR.

In fact I just had the Panasonic 47inch Rear Projector. It went back. Not because it was too big, but just that the picture quality is so far off from a good tube (i have a 32inch JVC).

But back to you. Go ahead and get that 30 or 34. You'll enjoy.

Of course, you do not want to sit too close to a set that big, or your eyes will fry after a while. I would recommend sitting at least 10 feet away from a set that big.

Is this a rear projection set. I didnt look it up.
I could be abit LARGE if it is. Also depends on how big your house is, if this is ONLY in a TV room, fine. Dont forget to check DOOR WIDTH.

Look into the Panasonic TH-37PWD5UZ 37" Plasma Display and mounting that sucker right onto the wall. It isn't true HD, but I'll bet you won't even notice the difference. Deepest blacks with the truest colors, you can't go wrong with the Panny -- and you won't have a prob viewing at 10'.
