So what the difference?
The new HS510 model is cheaper than 34XBR800. Why? Don't they both have the same picture quality? If I am not correct, doesn't HS510 have better dot pitch or something? So, what makes the older model more expensive?
Also, the new model XBR910 is coming out July with MSRP $2,500 which have a better picture quality than older model XBR800.

Did you get the answer to this question yet. My father in law went to circuit city to buy the xbr800 and they mistakenly gave him the hs510. Which is the newer version? which is better? How did you hear about the one coming out in July?

I actually found the 34HS510 to cost more than the 34XBR800 (in the bottom price).

34XBR800:

The XBR800 has more general features:
Channel Block, Channel Label, Closed Caption, Multi-Language Menu, Parental Control V-Chip, SAP, Sleep Timer, Tone Controls
Compared to the 34HS510:
Channel Block, Closed Caption, Multi-Language Menu, On Screen Menu, SAP, Sleep Timer, V-Chip
The XBR800 also has more inputs and an illuminated remote control which the HS510 doesn't
It looks to me like both models are very similar but that the XBR800 has a little more features. The 34XBR800 is also sold at more retailers than the 34HS510 which would lead me to believe its a specialty set made specifically for the Sony store.
