What do you guys think about these headphones?
I have also been thinking about the HD-497 Dynamic Hi-Fi Stereo Headphones. Has anyone tried and compared them both?
I have the MDR-V300 and they are ok. Do you know the dif between the V700?
I have some really good studio monitor headphones from Sony at work that sound awesome.

Christ IO, are we researching the same stuff at the same time? LOL! I've been looking at headphones, too. Head over to http://www.head-fi.org/ and check out the forums. They will answer EVERYTHING. Also, http://headroom.headphone.com/layout.php for good buying guides (but just slightly outdated).
I have some old mdr-v400s and they basically suck. I think my next purchase will be a Sennsheiser set. Depends on you taste and budget, though. Pioneer has some wicked Dolby Headphone wireless systems coming out (the XB1 and DIR1000), but they cost $450. The Senn 580s are great, but youcan find the 600s for much cheaper, now that they said they're coming out with a 650 and 700 models. For earbuds the Etys 4p is supposed to be amazing. Good gaming cans - general consensus is that the Sony V3000 are great because of the powerful bass. In general, I've heard stay away from most Sony headphones. Go with Senn and Grado if you want good wired closed sets.
Hope that helps!
Brandon
ps-I'm gonna wait for the Pioneer XB1 to come to america and maybe get some Etys. Expensive, yes, but I've had my current ones for 6 years or so. Hey, the excuse works for me. :)

I have those headphones, (err... the 700s), they're pretty big and nice. They do get kinda painful after wearing them for extended periods of time, because of their sheer size, but that happens with all headphones.
I also got mine for $64

I posted a little mini review in the portable audio section. I actually got 3 different pairs, which I'm going to review next week for DT.
