Nice review!

And although I'm not a fan of portable cd players I like this product. Sounds like put a lot of effort into this product. Actually, the same goes to say with many of their other products...very nic looking devices.

Where would that external battery pack attach to?

There is an external plug on the side of the SlimX 400 that the external battery pack plugs into. iRiver really listened to what people want and included it in this player. I was very very impressed with its abilities.

Did you know the menu can be switched to 1 of 37 different languages!? Crazy!
