I dunno about anyone else, but the last two LCD Wega's look weird and funky. Anyway... too expensive for me.

I had a chance to see the current 32" LCD thin Wega at Circuit City and it looked a lot better than the plasma models I have seen. I would stop by and check it out if you get a chance.:)

Sweet pics. Nice clean lines. I'll definately be keeping my eye on these models...How is the performance? Seen any of them in action yet?

I think that what I saw at Circuit City was the WEGA - KE-37XS910 LCD flat Panel. The picture was absolutely stunning to say the least. It was putting the plasma sets around it to shame. I am not sure what the contrast ratio was, but it looked to be good, like 3000:1 good like the Panasonic Plasma's.

damn.... Keeping up with the Panny's black levels IS a feat. What other sets were around it to compare it to? Pio's? Pannys? I keep forgetting what CC stocks in their locations.
I'm going to see if I can find a PDF or something on these things.

There was a hitachi 32" Plamsa, Philips 32" plasma sets sitting next to it.

Being that the Hitachi is just a rebadged Pioneer, I'm suprised it didn't hold it's own. Were they all being fed the same source material?

Good question. I do not know the answer to that. I always go into the showroom at places like Ciruit City not expecting the best because they use video splitters and VGA boxes. I usually look at a plasma or CRT set in a nicer place then buy at the cheaper.
My guess was that they were all being fed the same signal just split.

Does anyone have Tech Specs on the KDF-60XBR950 set, i.e. How does it handle up or down conversions of signals, 720p specifically? Also what is the contrast ratio? And lastly what is the max res i.e. 1024 x 768p? Thanks Brian

bmw_68,
Looked high and low for a spec sheet on that model and can't find a damn thing (every single search I've tried has sent me back to here, actually) Even a ferret search didn't turn up anything other than the review on this site -- hey, wait a minute -- are you people sure that Sony makes this thing and not DesignTechnica? Pretty slick marketing there, guys...pretty slick:D

Sony has always, IMO given the public a very nice picture. The only thing is that they seem to be a little pricey compared to the competition.

looking for decent sony information can drive you up the wall - its sony releases some pr blurb and everyone copies and pastes it - arrgh! anyhow, after searching fo r days for info on the Wega Plasma KE-42MR1 (the XBR900 42" in the US), especailly connection info in shops, online, sony site, etc- with no luck. Then i came accross the only review on the web, which i had to even pay for - 3 dollars for 3 pdf pages only to find out it didn't answer my question - pc connectivity - damn you reviewer!!!
anyways, heres the link to the review of US version of the KE-42MR1:
www.x-monkey.com/stuff/reviewsony42xbr900_1060.pdf
for a flagship product, there is a real lack of decent information out there - one would think it to be otherwise considering its aimed at enthusiasts!
