Now that we have an iMac which we love, I noticed that Internet Explorer came as the default browser. Is Safari any better? What are the main differences?

IE on Mac is supposed to be the most web standards friendly browser

I noticed that when you click on the expand button in IE on the Mac, it does not make the browser full screen like a browser would on a Windows XP system. Any reason for this?

I have never tried Safari but IE seems to work for me. In my opinion if Apple wanted to convert more IBM compatible users they should at least have a similar layout to Windows. I know being different is cool and all but change is hard for some people. I think Apple has some great products and would love a powerbook personally.

2 things.

1) Both browsers suck compared to Mozilla!
http://www.mozilla.org/why/

2) Did we release the restrictions on Avatar Image size? What is with this huge image that sonyman is able to use? Maybe its just Ioman fooling around =)

on that note, nearly all the Safari users I know actually prefer Camino, which is Mozilla-based.

I guess some people (including myself) have had annoying permissions problems once in a while with Safari, so rather than figure it out, I just went back to IE. I hear the Safari 1.1 version in Panther is more stable and quicker.

_________

it was a sad day when I switched from Netscape to IE, but I guess MS has more experience with bloated software; NS's cache file handling was really bloated & stupid, and that was the straw that broke the duck's back. Score one for MS =\

I am a PC user, but my friend has a Mac and he was having problems with IE. So i downloaded Camino for him. Its truly amazing. Much faster than IE for Macs and the other good thing is you can make it full screen. I would definitely recommend Camino.

What is the difference between Safari and Camino?

I think they are really basically the same, although I should get more backup info why...

I'm testing out Mozilla Firebird and (Mozilla-based) Camino... and I have to admit IE has some very minor tactile details that really help me to know what it is doing... and I can't expect every single click or key shortcut to be reproduced in different products.

I'll try to use these apps for a month or so, and report back.
