ooh this laptop looks very nice, why haven't we heard about it much on these forums? I like hot the inside is metallic too and the whole system is very slim.

We haven't heard about it because it's $2200 for a 14.1 XGA screen with integrated Intel graphics. Add tax and you're at $2400.

I expect more for $2400.

A comparable Compaq x1000 with a 15.4" WSXGA widescreen will set you back only about $1500-1600. The only compromise is you don't get a DVD-R, only a DVD/CDRW combo. But you do get a 64MB Radeon 9200 card instead.

Yes, you can configure the x1000 with a 1.3-1.7 Centrino. Best price point now is the 1.5 or 1.6.

I ordered one with the following config:

1.6GHz P-M Centrino
15.4" WSXGA+ (1680x1050)
512MB RAM
64 MB Radeon 9200
40GB Travelstar (4200rpm)
DVD/CD-RW
802.11b
4 hour battery (I've gotten 4:20)
-and the usual ports, including IR and firewire and a secure digital card reader.

all for $1600 - delivered.

And, you can get Bluetooth if you want it for $19 more.

Not a bad deal at all...
