Im looking to get a laptop for work (plus the few certification classes I have left). I have decided 15 inch is the best screen size-- decent, yet the weight and cost are not as outrageous as the 17 inch bad boys on the market. I havent worked with a laptop in 3 years so the new advances will require a little study on my part. My question about screens is this: Some sites say to get at least XGA+, but I don't see the point. I am typing on a 22" inch Samsung (20" inch viewable) right now. I have the rez at 1280x1024. Anything higher and it irritates my eyes with text and so forth. Its seems only logical this would translate into 1024x768 on a 15 inch screen. Is this decent logic? I also like to play the occasional game. I know laptops arent really designed for hardcore gaming so it seems the lower rez would help run games smoother (there is a large performance drop when going from 1024x768 to 1280x1024). Any opinions or suggestions are welcome.

I've got SXGA on my DELL. The 15' screen is optimized for 1600x1200. Optimized in this case means that any lower resolution will produce blurry, fuzzy, and much lower quality graphics than at 1600x1200. So I'm pretty much screwed and have to keep it on 1600x1200 all the time... just something to think about.
