Hi ppl,

quick post, I will post more later, but I returned my HDD100 :(

I loved the unit and I have said in the HDD100 thread that u need patience with new kit but the problems were just too much for me to bare :(

Now it will be either a Zen or IPOD, I wont go for the NX however as it doesn't offer that much more than the original Zen. IMHO and you lose more than you gain with a very small reduction in size.

Comments from IPOD or Zen users? I have a MZN-1 Minidisc player so sound is very important to me as though MD is an older format it kicks ass sonically, and I want a similar sound from my MP3 player.

Hi,

I read your post about the hdd100. I'm about to return it too. I bought it 2 days ago, and the library has already gone mad (only diplays the list until "T..."), the program to up- and download is terrible to use, no printed information on how to use that thing (you have to print everything yourself from the net)... That's not what I expected for 500 Euro's!

I was wondering what kind of problems occured with your hdd100?

thanks

Hi,

OK here are the reasons I returned it.

With the v3 firmware supplied on my /05 model it was continually locking up. Even just changing track it would lock up requiring a reset.

So I upgraded it to the v4 firmware, and to begin with I only had a couple of lockups usually after doing a large file transfer.

Then I would use it one day then the next it would generate white noise with the bass boost or more annoyingly the EQ on which also required a reset to sort out.

Changing tracks it would show the last track as the active one!

To me these symptoms are not what you would expect from a £350 player. I have spoken to ppl with the Zen, Gen3 and Gen1 IPOD and none of them have reported needing to do a reset, which IMHO is what it should be like.

Also no reply to a query I sent to Phillips support more than 1 1/2 weeks ago, no online community to speak of either in fact these boards are the best place!!

Very disappointed in what could have been a definite contender :( Hardware wise it looks good, nice size and the sound was excellent. Just a shame Phillips have released a beta product because that is the only thing I can think to describe it.
