Hey guys, I've had my TR1A for about a week (for those who are having a hard time getting ahold of one, www.pcconnection.com) and I love it.

There is one annoying thing, however. When I use headphones in the system and am playing music, the computer changes the volume like an ALVS (automatic volume limiter system) on their walkmans. A song will be going at a normal volume (I don't listen to my music that loud) and as soon as some part kicks in that may have a bit more volume than what was playing, the computer adjusts the volume to a lower level.

This is really annoying because I don't want to have to keep changing the volume in order to get the song to sound correctly. Does anyone know how to remedy this? Thanks...

Yeah, I have the exact same problem... It's pretty irritating when you're listening to a song and all of a sudden the volume just automatically cuts down....

Are you sure this is what's happening? Are you using the Sony Soundstage or the Windows Media player? My guess is that it is software controlled, not hardware. Maybe try Winamp as well.

Ahhh... now that you mention it, I think it's just Windows Media Player that does that...

I recently switched all my audio to Sony SonicStage, and hadn't tried listening to anything with my headphones, but now that I've tried, it seems to not have that problem....

BTW, since we're on the topic of audio, does anyone know how to change the default audio settings? I like having a little bit more bass than what's set as default, but when I change the settings, on the next start-up, they go back to the original settings... I don't like having to change the bass level each time, so if anyone knows how to remedy this, please let me know...

Thanks in advance...

Find out which audio player is set as your default or find out which one starts when Windows starts, it could be deafulting when the OS is restarted. Also, do a search on the net for an equalizer program. If you use an "advanced" media player like Winamp, it has an equalizer built into it. Also depending on the sound card drivers there might be bass/treble settings under your computers control panel.
