I received this laptop from Sony this week to review and thought I would give everyone my initial impressions.

I really like the design and styling, there are a lot of unique ideas that are present. The right mouse button is shorter width wise than the left and has some grooves etched into it which makes it intuitive to use and easy to recognize by touch.

The palm rest on the laptop curves downward and while it looks good aesthetically, if makes you feel like your palm is hanging there with no support.

The metallic purple and black color combination looks great.

The power button is located on the front and is activated by "sliding" it to the right rather than pushing it. Kind of unique.

The keyboard, while larger than the TR1A, has a unique layout where the right shift key is half the size as a regular key and the Home, End, Delete, Insert etc keys are actually activated by pressing the Fn key and overlap the arrow keys.

The screen brightness is very saturated and emanates from the edges where it is brighter than the center. There is no Sony XBRITE technology in use and it shows. This is pretty disappointing.

I like that there is a memory stick slot and USB ports on either side of the laptop. I also like that Sony included a 4400mAh battery pack.
