I have a PowerBook and the original warranty is about to expire. Is it worth it to get the 2 yr. extension? Thx. in advance.

Do you think you will have the notebook for another 2 years or are you thinking of upgrading? If you think you will have it for a while, it might be worth getting. How much is the extended warranty by chance?

I will have it for a while so I guess it will be worth it, but these machines aren't supposed to have issues like PC's do. That's why I don't want to extend the warranty. It's $369 to get an additional 2 yrs.
Have you checked with the MAKER and not the retail store.
I would consider not getting it, but it depends on your usage habits. I declined it on my iBook since I use it primarily around the house and on planes and trains. There's little chance for real damage and the machine is pretty durable.
If you're often in situations where you're carrying your PowerBook back and forth to class (between textbooks) or if you have clumsy roommates or tend to scrach/break your electronics, then its definately worth the investment.
Remember, you're essentially paying 7% of the face value of the machine each year for two years. Is that 14% better saved or are you likely to need it? I'd wager you don't need it, but its an expensive machine to break.

I am the unregistered guest, and I decided to get the warranty. I normally don't do extended warranties, but this is an expensive machine, and I plan on having it for awile.
NOW, there is another thought.
FORGET the warrenty. GET insurrance.
Warrenties GENERALLY wont replace the item and if they DO, they will FIGHT you tooth and nail. And point to that little clause about DAMAGE NOT COVERED.
Warrenties are "money in the pocket" for these guys and they DONT want to give it back.
