Got this in the e-mail this morning:
Hi,
I just posted my user experience in installing OS X 10.2 on my iMac. It’s a very straightforward install and definitely one anyone can do. I did not get a chance to do the upgrade option but rather chose the full install method instead. It’s a short article showing the various steps taken and contains mostly screen shots for people interested to see what the OS X install process is like. The article is here:

Feel free to email me if you have any questions. Take care!
Sincerely,

When is the last time you had to pay to upgrade your operating system for a dot release? It is way over priced! > $100
I suggest borrowing the cd from a friend to see if you think it's worth it to spend the money. I did find it on ebay (http://cgi6.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=apple_and_snapple&include=0&since=-1&sort=4&rows=27&showpics=1&stab=0) for $70 + shipping.
M$ doesn't make you pay to upgrade their OS when they release service packs. What doesn't make any sense is if you take a look at their list of enhancements (http://www.apple.com/macosx/jaguar/) and it all seems like stuff you could download without much hassle.
But wait if you go and buy the OS you will have the privalage of owning that cool box to put on your self. I always forget about that! LOL

It's only a dot release because OS XI sounds stupid.

MS doesn't make you pay YET, but as soon as their current business strategy starts to show decreased revenues, beleive me they will start charging. There are already rumours that MS will be "leasing" future operating systems for a monthly fee versus being able to purchase it outright. This would suck terribly for businesses.
Linux anyone?
Somebody get with the program and come up with a solid GUI for Linux.
Microsoft needs some substantial crosstown rivalry. One should not dictate to the many. See how processors have advanced somuch since AMD stepped out of the upgrade pack with a viable challenger to the venerable Pentium/ Intel monopoly?
Also notice how much software technology has lagged behind hardware over the past few years. It's not all MS' fault, but they have a monopoly on OS.
We need one or two other alternatives to MS to make innovation to come to market.
Innovation is a product of competition.

Well it would suck if home users couldn't still hack the crap outta of it and had to pay out the ass to use a M$ piece of junk. I would switch to Linux on all my computers as soon as that happens.
