I've had my 200a5 since last Nov. and have had no major problems. My battery started lasting only 35 minutes on a full charge suddenly so I called VPR Matrix (which put me into Best Buy tech support) and after arguing for quite a while they finally sent me a new battery.

But I wondered if others seem to have a flimsy screen. In other words, my screen casing is really wiggly; its not tight like many other brands. I'm afraid it will get worse.

Also, the letters on about 5 of my keys are coming off. VPR (Best Buy) says this problem is not covered by warranty and would take up to 6 weeks to repair should I choose to buy a new keyboard. That's a bit extreme.

Thougths?

I've had my machine since December and had my unit repaired in March for a popped 'CTRL' key and a dead backlight problem. Recently, I had Best Buy test my machine and authorize the delivery of a new battery.

Problems with the pack started in May with a noticeable drop in battery performance that deteriorated rapidly for the next few months. Currently it can be used as a 20 min backup power supply.

The new battery is only used when I an certain that I will be away from the power outlet for extended periods. I’m NOT sure if the new pack will perform as poorly as the original in the long one.

The machine has roasted itself in its bag twice due to problems in the sleep mode, heating the original battery above recommended temperatures for extended periods of time. Furthermore, I notice the machine tends to charge the battery for a few minutes every time the machine turned on or reconnected to the ac power supply. Could heat damage and possible overcharging be the cause of the dramatically short life of the original battery?

Those are my notes on my machine.

Some other more random thoughts:

Was there just a bad batch of batteries or is it a problem for the 180a5/200a5/220a5 line?

Are 220a5 keyboards being replaced w/o the 96/192K and S/PDIF buttons?

Thanks for the comments. How about flimsy screens? I mean screens that wiggle back and forth on their mounting brackets.

Anybody?
