I just got my new VPR Matrix 220A from BestBuy.com this week, and I have to say I'm overall pretty happy with it. I'm sure it is for the same reasons that all of you like or at least bought yours for.
Here is the question: Everthing Functions on my laptop, but I have the screen noise problem. This allows me to return my laptop for a refund since it is within the 14day limit and all of that stuff. Should I take my out and get my money back or just have them replace/fix this one.
The fact that is was "defective" when I got it, along with the large list of other problems I have heard here are making me second guess my purchase. I know this will ultimately be a personal choice on my part, but all of your input would be great as well.
Thanks for your time,

Unrelated, but I hear starting tomorrow there's gonna be a $200 rebate on these things, in addition to the regular $100. So they're $1000AR now.
I have to ask.
I ask everyone that wants a computer and this goes Double for laptops.
WHY do you want one, or need one.

Why do you have to ask? I hear that question a lot and it annoys me. Not saying anything about you or etc., but (in general) why do you think we want a computer/laptop? The answer is obvious. Someone who doesn't want one wouldn't spend time looking, asking questions, visiting forums, etc. Although, I agree most people don't NEED one, that goes for a lot of things, not just computers.

Take it back and get the Compaq X1000 if you want a widescreen, or the Gateway 200XL is you want a killer system with good looks and great battery life (with the 4400mAh battery pack).

You asked.
Becasue i see more persons buy them looking for either:
A portable computer. NOt a laptop.
To be cool. drop it a couple times, then its trash, or a door stop.
They think "its just like" a full size computer. It aint.
For school. for security purposes this isnt NICE. With a portable, open it and screw it to the floor or desk.
Laptop=PDA, NOT.
and many other reasons. but buying a laptop is mostly for certain reasons. Mostly business, and using on the road. Nice in classes, if you can type fast enough. But it aint for video games, it aint secure, and backing it up is a REAL pain.
For what you get in a laptop, what could you buy in a FULL size comp. AND it wont be totally obsolete in 3 years. you can upgrade a full size, and not the laptop.

Just an update for those that care I did return my VPR Matrix for a FULL refund. Parting was such sweet sorrow, but I just had a bad feeling from the fact that I would have to send in my brand new notebook for service just to get it opperating the way it was suppose to. To me it was not a good omen of things to come.
So now I am AGAIN in the market for a Laptop, which sucks and let me tell you why!
I need a portable compter for my frequent buisness trips. It helps me stay in touch with everyone, and helps to keep my productivity up while on the road.
First I order the VPR Matrix before my trip to France, but becuase of shipping delays it arrive the day I left (after I had left of course)! Now this week I have trip to Boston in which I will most likely be laptopless again as I just return the Matrix. I'm getting the feeling that by the time I get a laptop I wont need it!
Thanks for everyones insight into my little problem,

Take a look at the Gateway 200XL we reviewed here: http://reviews.designtechnica.com/review488.html
This is my new favorite laptop. I even sold my VPR 200A5 for below market value and now I am using the Gateway. Just get the optional battery pack and you will be in heaven.

Well you are right that is a great looking system, although I had not planned on spending $2000 on a laptop. How does the 200X compare?
