REMOVE all printers.
- there are no printers yet. i have never printed from this computer as yet

1. what is the printer?
- right now i'm trying to hook up a HP laserjet 1200, i've tried various other printers before and keep running into the same problem
2. what is the computer?
- vpr matrix 200A5 laptop computer running win xp home ed
3. do you have current drivers?
- yup, i tried to update drivers and it said that i have the latest ones
4. WHICH interface, parrallel, USB, firewire, SCSI, What?
- parallel

i also tried to print to file, even that wont work

when i click on add printer it says operation failed.

when i connect a printer to the computer it detects it and goes about downloading stuff and installing it, but at the final screen of the wizard it says that there was a problem installing the hardware. then it spits out some stuff about not being able to find the RPC server. i checked under services and the RPC service is up and running just fine.

this is getting to be quite an adventure. thanks for taking a look at my post and helping me out.
