What the hell? It's been about half a year since i bought my 200a5 and now my max battery life is around an hour!!! I searched on battery performance and no one really came to a conclusion about what to do about this issue. Battery calibration was discussed but it seemed to decrease life rather then increase. I bought the Best Buy warranty and i thought the salesperson told me that it covered batteries. Can anyone confirm? Or what other options are there? In my opinion this is unacceptable for any laptop especially one that's less than a year old. I hardly use the battery...My usage is about 30% battery and 70% with power adapter.

This is true. Best Buy will send you a new battery. I have the service plan as well and they shipped a new one to my house at no charge. Just call tech support and tell them your battery life is horrible and they should just send a new one.

you should do a "battery recalibration" in system bios. it will take awhile but it works. geekrock99

How much are the batteries for these things? Would it be less of a hassle just to buy a new one? (I don't own a notebook, so I have no clue as to how they are serviced)

The very detailed manual (not) does make one obscure reference to F2, but it's not so easy to find.

Anyway, make sure start pressing as soon as your power on the computer, and press repeatedly until the the BIOS screen comes up.

I ran the calibration on my laptop 3 times and it didn't seem to help my battery life at all. I was sending my unit in for its second repair and wrote on the paperwork that the battery is bad. Well they sent it back after fixing the other problems (wireless card, internal fan and a deffective hinge), but they didn't do anything about the battery. I called best buy and they supposedly are sending a replacement my way. Still waiting to see it. Counting the battery replacement I am now up to 3 repairs, one more to go.....those Centrino based systems sure are looking sweet

My battery life was poor (but not totally gone) so i tried recalibrate using F2 option - i left the computer alone and when I came back the battery was totally zero'ed out, screen blank, power off. So I left it charging overnight - came back in the morning and it didn't hold ANY charge. Have had it running with computer on and plugged in and battery is still at zero charge according to both the [Fn]+[gauge] option and the indicator built in to the back of the battery.
