I purchased a VPR Matrix notebook computer from Best Buy and the 3-year service plan. A piece of plastic in the back broke and has caused a lot of damage to the back left-hand corner of the computer. Every time the computer is opened and shut it makes it worse. When I took it in to get it looked at, they said that the service plan was no good because it was "incidental damage" and indicated that I must have dropped it or something. I DID NOT DROP it or abuse it in anyway. It looks bad because of the defect in the product, not because anything was done to the computer. If the piece was the way it was supposed to be, the surrounding areas would not have the damage! I talked to a manager, who just agreed with the Tech Rep. We called Best Buy's 800 number and they said that the Techs were trained to recognize abuse - BUT IT WAS NOT ABUSE!! So, if they don't want to fix it, all they have to do is claim abuse and when you ask them how they can claim it is abuse when it was not abused, they say it is abused because it is broken. It is a scam of circular reasoning. I am not usually one to complain. There are a lot of other little issues with this computer that I did not take it in to be fixed for because they were not that big of a deal to me and I did not want to be without it for that long (e.g. a key popped off before I had it two weeks, the little covers over the connections between the computer and monitor broke off, the back cover over the ports came off, etc.), but now when I take it in for what I think will be the end of the computer if not fixed, they say they won't fix it!
