Does anyone know the release date for the latest model? Thanks.
Might be easier and faster to just go to the maker and look, insted of asking some of us, as this maight take a day.
Psst:
wasnt being nasty. Consider April as the start date.
AND I am obnoxious, and ECA is my initals to MY NAME. DUH.
And as you may see, no one posted to the thread as to a DATE. And your being UNREG, I would consder WORSE then anonomous.
AND I do have a profile.

The "obnoxious twit" was more than likely put there by an administrator or moderator - unless the ability to change ones' title becomes available after x amount of posts and I doubt that.
Pssst,
The ability DOES come. And yes, Im among the top 4 posters.

Ah.. I did not know that. Did it happen at 1000 or after you hit a certain percent of all posts?
I think its around 200, but check your stats/info.
Its being logged, and there will pop up a option.
Myself, i was here when they did a change over, and I got to keep it, even when I had 1 post on the reset.

You do seem to post a lot of replies. But is also seems that you don't own a VPR (or at least, not one of the models commonly discussed on this forum). As a result, your information is at times less than accurate. So, one must wonder why you would participate so frequently in a forum for a computer that you do not own....
BECAUSE, no-one answered his Question and I found it faster for him to look at the web site.
Do you have his answer?
If not why are you posting?
If so, then GIVE IT TO HIM.

I am not refering to this specific case, this is just something that I have often wondered about when I read your posts. I don't mean to be critical, it just seemed like a good time to bring it up. It just seems a bit unusual for someone to make so many postings about product with which he is obviously not so familiar.
It comes down to common sence. WHERE can you find a manufactours date? How about on the label on the machine, if not there Where? How about there site, wow maybe its there. Does this mean, that if you are Not a plumber you cant look? No, it means that MOST items have there Date on the item and if you look, its there.
How about when your monitor was made, bet its on the back.
How about your refrigerator, if its made in the last 20 years, its on the back. If not there is a model #, and you can go to the company and ask, or look it up on the web at there site. did this take much knowledge, Not really. All it took was a little thought. Now if an item was made over many years, ALL companies are supposed to hold the SERIAL numbers, for warrenty information, so that they KNOW exactly when a product was made with that number they can tell you when it left the building.
AND, after 20+ years of playing with computers, from the IBM 360/30 main frame, Commodore Pet, Sinclear 80, Osborn portable, C63 and C64 portable, 2 or 3 laptops I have used, 64/128, The amiga, All the hardware upgrades I have made, the software I have programmed into some of these machines, I do have a bit of knowledge.
Wow, Im old.

Again, my point is not just about this issue of the product launch date. What I question is your frequent postings about a computer with which you are not familiar. In your years of working with computers, you must certainly have come to realize that all systems are different.
For example, you recently posted information about pressing F3 or F8 to get to the BIOS settings. It is F2 on the VPR computers. Actually, in the 10-plus DOS/Windows computers I've owned over the years, I can't recall any that used F3 or F8.
Another example. You told a user with a CD that would not eject to insert a pin into the eject hole. These computers have slot-loading drives and no manual eject hole. A very inexperienced user might have decided to try sticking a pin or pointed object in the CD slot itself, possibly doing a lot of damage to the mechanism.
You seem to be proud of the quantity of your posts, but it is the accurate posts that actually help people.
Please just keep in mind that all computer systems are different, and generic advice often may not apply to our VPR computers. In some cases, it could even be detrimental.
Now, regarding the issue of this thread – the serial number on these computers does not provide any apparent information about the manufacturing date. The VPR site also provides no information, according to the original poster. Furthermore, the manufacturing date stamped onto many appliances may or may not reflect the product launch date; these are two different things. And or course, we don't even know if the original poster has even purchased the computer yet, or is just asking for comparison information.
So, when information is hard to find, a posting on a forum like this is a great place to ask the question. And rather than filling the screen with random guesses or generic information just to increase your number of postings, might it not be better to wait for a post from someone who really knows the answer?
Then someone 'like yourself', wouldnt try to prove me wrong and find the answer for him, and you havnt even done that, and by your admission, you must have this laptop. And if you do, why not answer the question. From the site, he has 1 date. I gave him a chance to find it, and you have given nothing.
And sence no one else has posted a comment, where does it leave him.
Myself, I do not mind being proven wrong, and yes I have had laptop that used some strange keys to open Bios. Most were the old 386/486 types. But its mostly the manufactours that do this, they wish to keep persons out unless they know whats going on.
I wont comment anymore here, as its an old thread. And I hope he got the info he needed, and maybe from the main site. Sence you didnt have anymore help then myself.

Yes, this will be my last post on this thread as well, as the point I have been trying to make seems to not be getting through.

Lets try not to attack people personally under Anon logins. Try to add something constructive to the thread!! ECA is only doing the best he can to help you with the situation. DT is a place to come and share information and expirences with all sorts of devices. Don't expect that we are in contact with every Vice President of Development for all the products you find on this site, that would be ludicrous. We do the best that we can. I hope that you come back soon flecrone.

Come back? Haven't left. Like the site and check it daily. Not sure how I feel about censoring posts, but I do agree that the one you trimmed was uncalled for.
