for those that DONT know...
ELITE was the first 3D space game. Line graphics and all.
Elite 2(frontier elite) Was the first 3D colored Vector graphic space sim. The environment was the WHOLE milkyway...And it fit on a floppy.
First encounters was next and had flaws, but landing on a planet and walking around is ALOT of a few floppies.

with the advent of EVE, JumpGate, and a few others..
Elite 4 is coming out. It will have a BIG battle, with these others. But if the time spent on this is as good as the TIME, (3 years) It should be GREAT.

NOw, to mention a NEET concept..
Windows PC

-Linux PC

-Macintosh

-Sony PSX 2

-Microsoft Xbox

-Nintendo

THESE are the machines it will be released on... NOT one machine. ALL of them. They will be banking on the idea of ALOT of peoplke using the NET for it and making there money that way.
for those into space flight, Im hoping it will be as good as ELITE 2 or FE.. You will love it...

I find it funny, that ALOT of game companys dont consider that us OLD FOLKS have seen the emergance of so many games. The only difference is the Implamentation(the internet).

Let me say it this way... Iv played PONG when it was NEW. and if you are going to put PONG on the NET, it has to be as good as the original, or better... AND Im not talking graphics..
SCREW the graphics, if the game SUCKS, it sucks....

With all the MMPOG type games coming out. And wanting to put them on the NET. I understand the limitations of SPEED.(33.6, 56k, DSL, ADSL, Cable, SAT, T1 and the rest) and the biggest market to aim at, is STILL 56k.
Less then 10% of the US has anything faster, it will take about another 10-15 years to get past the 80% mark. the fastest service for the net, is cable... But even it cant cover everyone. ADSL, is a pain to REINSTALL all new wire for and upgrading relay stations to CURRENT tech, the Bell companies DIDNT want to do this.

Cell phones, analog to digital..
It took 20+ years to intstall the cell lines around the country for analog. Installing Digital will tak about the same anount of time. Only the large cities have Digital, and alot of the larger towns are now being installed. They will then try to interconnect each town and city with digital. It takes alot of money(mostly) and TIME.
