To hit shelves in November, two Pocket LOOX 610 models will both feature Windows Mobile 2003, dual expansion slots and Bluetooth - and one also boasts Wi-Fi.

Undergoing a sweeping transformation from a traditional PC company into a branded integrator of personalized technology solutions -- a maker of digital gear that works together -- Gateway, Inc. today entered the rear projection TV market. It's now offering a 56-inch DLP(TM) rear projection TV that's less than 19 inches deep and available for just $3,799(1).

At the Octoberfestival in Augsburg, Germany, Fujitsu Siemens Computers yesterday presented its new Pocket LOOX 610 handheld. Featuring an Intel XScale PXA255 processor and Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC, the new handheld maintains the reputation of the LOOX line as that of a versatile high-end tool which also features dual expansion slots and integrated wireless connectivity. |

The new Pocket LOOX 610 continues the legacy of the 600

Slated to go on sale in November, the Pocket LOOX 610 will be available in two models, sharing all features but two - the inclusion of integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, and RAM size. To be named the 610 BT and 610 BT/WLAN respectively, the models will be powered by Intel's latest XScale processor for handhelds, the PXA255, and offer a new, 16-bit transflective touch screen capable of displaying up to 65,536 colours. And, where the 610 BT offers 64 MB of RAM, the 610 BT/WLAN offers 128 MB - while both feature 64 MB of ROM.

As with the original Pocket LOOX 600, the new series offers dual expansion slots, however it appears that the SD/MMC Card expansion slot is not SDIO capable, which stands in stark contrast to most other high-end Pocket PCs launched recently. Still, the CompactFlash Type I/II expansion slot of the units offers I/O connectivity, and enables compatibility with Fujitsu Siemens' own CompactFlash GPRS and WLAN accessory cards.

The battery of the Pocket LOOX 610 series stands out in a crowd, however, at 1500 mAh. According to Fujitsu-Siemens, this should enable up to 12 hours of usage time of the handheld, while an optional 3,000 mAh XL battery should enable up to 20 hours of use.

Fujitsu Siemens did not comment on the expected price of neither Pocket LOOX 610

Cool, but I think the price will be to much.
