Just wondering if anyone else has trouble with the 220a not speedstepping. My laptop is constantly running at 2200mhz so it gets really hot over on the left side, I have heard of them getting warm, but it is almost untouchably hot. Vpr couldnt help me out, I am about ready to do a complete recovery, but I have some programs that I cant get rid of because I am away from replacements. Any help? Do I just need to reinstall speedstep drivers? I know windows xp is supposed to handle that, so I dont know how to reinstall them. Thanks.

When I had my 200A5 I had the same problem. I went into my BIOS and changed the SpeedStep to performance and then back to automatic (it was previously set to automatic I believe) and that fixed the problems. Try changing the setting to something and then back, that will usually give it a kick in the pants.

SpeedStep also relies on the Power Options settings. Make sure that your power profile is on Portable/Laptop and not Always On.

I did this same thing and it works.

I happened to have it on always on, changed it to portable/laptop and it worked right away, didnt have to do the bios change. Thanks man, I can feel the laptop cooling down already. Again, thanks, that was a concern for me, I can literally feel the case cooling down under my left hand, awesome :).
