Ive been using my vpr for about 3 days now, and have done a lotta research on the product thus far. Here are a few things i have realized about the cmoputer:

I recieved my 220a5 with the OLD style case, not the new one?? the rear has the rubber cover and the designed by porsche is printed below the vpr button. quite strange!

the cdrom in my laptop is a mat****a 24x10x24 / 8xdvd. NOT the advertised 8x8x24 / 8xdvd. the cd rom is loud as the dickens when it boots up. MY research has shown me that this is the same slot loading cdrom that they put in some powerbooks as well as the g4 cube. i am going to go out on a limb here and assume that the loud noise experienced is due to improper padding of the drive and it is just rattleing the whole system. apples are quiet as a mouse!

so far i love the computer. it is pretty fast, the screen is decent, and it looks pretty damn nice.

if there are air holes on the bottom, close to the upper left hand corner, then it is the newer case design. my 185 came with 10x cdrw which is also not the advertised 8x cdrw. hmmmmm?! there's not much you can do with your cdrom's humming noise. good luck.

"Upper left" meaning when viewed from the top or bottom? In other words, on the PC Card side or the CD side?

when viewed from the top, if you flip it over, those holes will be close to the back (where ports are) and close to the left, (where cpu fans is located). i guess this is their way of solving the heat issue. ?!

In that case, it sounds like the same holes in my 200A5, which would be the "older case" to which defylogik was referring. Maybe there are slightly differences between the 185 and 2** cases.

Maybe they are using spare parts to make the last of these laptops?
