I ordered Panther on Thursday for $19.95 because I bought my Powerbook after October 6th, and I got it yesterday! Talk about fast service. I didn't even kick in any extra money for faster shipping. So I installed it today and haven't really tinkered around with it much, but I really like the new Finder. It is way easier to look for certain files. Anybody else try out Panther yet?

Expose (can't put l'accent aigu on top of that last 'e'.) is a great new feature. I put it in one of my hot corners, so when I move my mouse cursor to it all the windows I have opened are miniaturized and laid out on my desktop with no overlapping. I then click whichever window I want and everything goes back to normal size with the window I selected in front. You can say it's the equivalent to Windows' taskbar at the bottom of the screen, but more descriptive as it shows what's in the window rather than just the label.

I've been using Panther for a month now and it Rocks!
Expose is amazing, the new Finder is great, and Fast User Switching is awesome.
This OS was worth every penny.

I heard that there was some issues when Panther was originally released. What is the deal with that? What are the main difference between panther and jaguar?

The biggest problem that a very few number of people were facing involved FW800 drives being corrupted. Although it significantly affected those with the problem drives, they were in the vast minority.
The best place to find out what is different with Panther is Apple's site.

I've had no problems so far. A friend of ours has trouble with nvidia drivers with Panther. I couldn't explain it any further than that. Sorry.

I've seen the expose and it is TREMENDOUS! So classy and useful. Apple seems to be leading on innovations and the rest trys to keep pace...however always lagging behind. I've been using 5 different laptops in the last year(vpr(samsung), HP, Compaq, ThinkPad T40, Samsung(gateway)) and i'm almost sure i'll be exchanging it for a Powerbook in the coming months.
