View Full Version : First tempting shot from Pocket DV3100
Still evaluating this cam, and getting over cold.
SORRY, this is High RES.
Guys, anyway to load a few 2048x1536 pics.(Jpg, and I think all under 1meg)
If I reduced there size you will loose on the Quality. Like to send at least 2 or 3.
Had to reduce to send it here.
detail macro,
I can expand the up to 3x the size with Very little pixelation.
This shows details in grass at close up.
Manual Macro, dont forget to flip it back.
These are 1/4 there size
Focus point
This is a DOWNWARD view of about 400 feet.
There is some focus but not much, the software has this option after you DL the pic into the computer.
3 Pic for the Zoom feature. It Zooms at .2 incremnets in digital.
Be aware of shadows, the auto Ap, aims only in the center. Great for contrasts, bad for out doors shots with people in them.
You may loose HALF a face. Its like using 100asa film.
Complex images under Overcast is great.
Look at the cats Eyes and the branches. Expnad the image and watch.
Still need a color chart for testing color changes, but under overcast, it looks nice.

Are these pictures of where you live?
OK;
The software is great, and I like ULead Photo explorer, esp right clicking.
File formats are Jpg for stills, Avi for movies(320x240-- 10fps), and Wav format for audio. The movies also record sound.
Im not going into the webcam part, it works.
The USB connector is powered, so no waste in batteries.
Very nice interface for DL data to the computer, it works just like an attached drive.
Complaints:
A matte finish on the 1.5" LCD would be nice, cant see anything with reflection.
Small Bypass view, only good to point at "something" you cant see with reflection.
Be nice to have a flash for indoors, anything less then 100watt lighting and it Sucks.
Pics are 1/18 of a sec AFTER you push the button.
Capacity:
16 meg internal
Max=
4 min AVI -----Voice 1 hour ----Still 15 high res--20 med--30 low
128meg CF card
30 min Avi ------------ 8 hours -------- 120-----------160-------240
512meg CF card
2 hours Avi---------- 32 hours--------- 480 ---------- 640------ 960
The TV output is great. It also has a built in speaker. Audio could be much better as its a bit Mid range Only.
So far Provantage has one of the best prices on the Cam and the CF cards.($111 for cam and 256meg CF card is $50).

Close. Most are from Twinfalls Idaho, 20 miles away, of the Snake river area.
Cat, and stop sign and the rest are around my house.
Color wheel
Outside bright light.
Flouresent lighting 3500 heat range.
In the color wheel charts 2 things happen.
Top line right side Black to White. Those are all different. But not in these pics.
Next is 3rd row down, second from left. That is supposed to be Yellow green. It dont really like YELLOW.

Hey, I just found this site while trying to find reviews on the Pocket DV3100 - and voila! Here I am.
This is good information to know and I personally appreciate it. Do you think it's worth the price tag in your opinion? Or do you recommend anything better, ECA?
I am in need of a digital camera for an upcoming college class, but I'd probably make use of the webcam feature more than anything.
What do you think?
Thanks,
Nick
The cam is great for its price.
If you have used 100asa film its very good.
there are also 2 models. the other one is like a regular camera.
IF I had extra money I would be looking in the $300 price range, Olympia or finepix, they both have comparable to 400 asa speed.
If you dont know, 100asa is good for bright pics, not great for inside.
400 asa is good for twilight, and inside or can be used for Fast moving objects.
for the price range its very good. Many others dont have the CF or SD cards and you cant expand the ram...
The other unit has a flash, where this one dont.
