Never heard of this guy before, but he gets my vote for selfless acts of heroism.

Good story. Obviously, he wasn't just thinking of the other guys he saved - he needed to save himself too!
I've worked as a journalist at newspapers and TV stations and talked to people that have covered wars. I really respect what they are doing.
Incidentally, the other guy the story talks about, James Nachtwey, had his War Photographer documentary on HBO last month. It was a great documentary.
