The screen on my 200A% died. Fortuanately, I had an extended warranty and they are paying me the original cost. So, now I've got a check for $1549 on the way and I'm wondering if there's anything comparable on the market.

Out of curiosity -- didn't they offer to fix the screen?

Do you want your new laptop to be widescreen as well? What other features would you like it to have and I will search around for ya.

Sorry to hear that.
I suggest IBM T41. One of the best.

Dell Inspiron 8600 with Radeon 9600 128 MB card would be my choice.
$1498 @Small Business shipped
Pentium M 1.4, 256 MB Ram, DVD-RW drive, 40 GB Hard drive, 1 year warranty, 128 MB Radeon 9600 Pro Turbo, 15.4" WXGA screen. Intel built in wireless.
Or my computer if weight is more important than video card speed.
Oh yeah, I have an Inspiron 600M 1.7, 64MB Radeon 9000, 5lbs

Thanks. The Dell looks nice, but I don't know how you got the price so low. With those specs, the dell site quotes me 2155.
Also, I might point out that my VPR was lighter and had 512MB of RAM

that's all
1697 - 100 rebate: 1597. It's a bigger hard drive, higher price. Coupons and discounts change often. You would have to take the low end screen and processor for that price. If you are a gamer, the processor speed doesn't matter. Screen Resolution... not my field... not my notebook.

That Dell should be a pretty nice system Designtechnica likes the Gateway 200XL and put it in their holiday gift guide and it recieved their editor's choice award. I would check that base model out, its in your price range.
