Microsoft will officially launch the MSN Direct Wrist Watches at the CES 2004 on January 8th.

A Microsoft spokeswoman confirmed that SPOT watches will be available at Fossil stores in Las Vegas during CES, and then at retail stores nationwide the following week.

The service will be available initially only in U.S. metropolitan areas and parts of southern Canada, but testing has already begun in Europe, the source said.
Full Story at InfoWorld.

Fossil has their MSN Direct Wrist Watch Line online since a while. So in about 3 weeks they should be on sale.

It does have an OS on it. The SPOT (Smart Personal Objects Technology) allows for pushing information to devices over the FM radio band. It's a fee-based service that is provided by Microsoft. The official launch is set for Jan 8th, about 6 months late.

We've set up the first SPOT community site and welcome anyone interested to stop by and participate.
