When I copy files from my music folder, files from my own cds copy just fine. However, mp3s I purchased from Walmart.com are not copying to my player. Has anyone else had this problem? Do Napster files that you purchase copy? Please help!

What are you using to copy with??
Have you checked there properties? Right click, bottom of list.. If its READ only, change it. There are other propties that windows dont let you see.

I'm using Windows Explorer to drag and paste files. This has worked on all other music files, except for the the Walmart.com ones.

I also used Windows Media Player and got error messages.

Are your Walmart MP3's using a proprietary format, or is the extension named something other than .mp3 ? Somtimes music services or programs will rename a file such as .mp3 to .mpu and will play that file ONLY with their program. If that is the case with Walmarts MP3's simply rename the song extensions to .mp3 and you should be fine.

Also what bite rate are the Walmart MP3's recorded in? It should be somewhere between 128kbps to 196kbps.

Moved this to the personal audio section where more people should be able to see it.

make 1 or 2 copies of the file, change the extention, MP3, WMA, OCC, what ever.
Also look into the prog you are using. Look it the File/OPEN section, there should be a selection of what format you wish to play, this MAY give you a hint as to the format.
Changing the extention is an OLD security trick, also changeing the files status, read only, archive, and such can be set, without Noting it in windows, so you CANT do much if its on CD except a direct Xcopy. Then you may find a prog to check the REAL attribute setting on the file. And then change it.

I have the same problem with the WMA files that I download from Puretracks.com. When I try to download the files to the YP-55 using Window Media Player I get a error stating the license does not support the transfer. Apparently the portable device has to be Windows Media digital rights compliant. I was wondering if the more recent firmware versions make the device compliant? I am still using version 1.5. I here there is a version 5.7.
