i used up the juice on my 175b until the it went on standby automatically. i went to sleep, woke up and the battery will no longer charge. has this happened to anyone? can anyone suggest what to do? did i mess up the memory on the battery?....does this mean i have to buy a new one? any help would be great! i've contacted the technical support already, but they haven't gotten back to me yet.

I had this happen with a different laptop, a vaio. The battery went completly dead, then I left it plugged in for like a day, unplugged then turned on, immediatly shut back down on own. Battery would not charge. It was about 3 years old though, got new battery, works fine.

I had the same problem with an older Toshiba laptop. Even though the battery was lithium ion and brand new, it could not keep a charge. I think something on the laptop itself was causing the battery to drain faster than normal.
I had this happen to me with my 180B5 laptop. About 7 months after I got it, I let the battery drain (I was told to do this) and then I plugged it back in and went to sleep. The next morning I woke up and it didn’t charge! I left it plugged in and about three days later it would charge. Only problem was it now had a 14 minutes life! I ordered a new one and it works.

laptop batteries have a usuable lifespan, as any battery with a "memory" does.
More often than not, people get a new laptop before this happens, but as you guys have seen, it does happen sometimes.

turns out battery was not the issue. i have only owned this laptop for less than a yr.
