View Full Version : yp-55v WON'T upgrade
I downloaded the new firmware (5.7). I unzipped it in my C:\Program Files\Samsung\yp55v directory. I installed all the drivers/software from the Samsung CD. I get the thing to go into recovery mode. The blue progress bar on the screen that says "Pieces of the firmware are being installed onto the device....please wait while pieces of firmware are being installed onto the device" (or something to that affect) gets completely full and then....nothing.
Didley squat.
Anybody got any ideas why this thing isn't working?

Is Windows XP your OS?
I ask you because the first time I had your same problem. (In fact I connected yp-55v in recovery mode just on Windows98)
It would be a driver problem.
Later I used it on windows xp making these things step by step:
1-Uninstall yp-55 software came with original cd.
2-Download the software from this link (I've just posted it on other thread)
http://www.sec.co.kr/product/mp3p/support/download/YP55_5700.zip
3-after you have unzipped it, install it
4-run it and plug yp-55v in recovery mode.
5-when the blue progress bar rich the end it would asking for new driver. You have to select the subfolder "drivers" where
you've unzipped YP55_5700.zip before.
Maybe It's very very stupid but in my case it works

I think you did it backwards. You must first install the Samsung software off the CD, THEN unzip the contents of the 5.7 zip file to the directory created by the installer. Say yes to the Replace prompts.
After that, start your player in recovery mode and run the update program.
