hi everyone,

i found this board while looking around for some alternatives to dmm. but since i'm using linux, the vb.net solution isn't quite what i looking for. so just 2 questions from me:

is there any linux specific / platform independent (java, perl scripts, anything) software to copy files to the device or

is there some documentation about the way files are stored on the device, especially the naming of the mp3-files in system/music (are those funny a3f2...mp3 filenames chosen randomly or somewhow calculated from the filesize, original name, constellation of moon and sun?) and how are files manipulated when uploading songs (there's at least one big index file, are there anymore)?

i don't think that there's any hdd100-specific linux software out there, maybe some other harddiskplayer's linux software works, but i also would be really happy about any documentation, so that i can write at least a bunch of perl scripts to copy files to my hdd100 / create playlists and so on without using other peoples computers.

that's it, hope anyone can help,
georg

So far, we havnt been able to get much of a responce from Philips. And nope, they don't support Linux.

We're all waiting to see if there can be a DMM replacment.

The tracks are randomly named as they're copied to the hdd. Dupes are possible.

In case anyone is tracking this topic (even though it's been 10 months since it was posted), you can sort of make use of the player with GNU/Linux using procedure described in another topic: http://forums.designtechnica.com/showthread.php?p=36445

If nobody is interested, sorry for reviving the ancient thread.
